So I have been neglecting my poor, lonely blog site for other things… like finals week and senior week and graduation and packing. But finally I think I will make some time to get this show on the road. I feel like there was something I was supposed to do today with someone specific, but I can’t remember. Hopefully they will text me soon about it. Oh yeah, speaking of texting, dropped my phone last night and the screen cracked. Now I’m part of that club nobody wants to join of cracked iPhone screen people. Worst timing since I’m leaving for my road trip on MONDAY!
Which is what I really want to talk about. I have gathered all my supplies and packed them all up into my backpack. I have my new binoculars, new bird book, new day pack, and new hiking sandals. I’m set. We leave from Boston on Monday to take a buss to DC where the car is waiting for us. Then from there we are going to Shenandoah National Park.
Earlier this week I went through with Miranda and Jared and we mapped out all our routes for our trip. Of course, I expect there will be some deviance from the maps but for the most part at least we know how to get from one place to the next.
I am going to try to post updates fairly regularly about the trip. Jared is bringing the netbook. But for the most part I am going to be crisscrossing my way across the United States and back again. Can’t wait to get started!
Thought for the day (courtesy of my word.a.day emails)
Why is it that one can look at a lion or a planet or an owl or at someone’s finger as long as one pleases, but looking into the eyes of another person is, if prolonged past a second, a perilous affair? -Walker Percy, author (1916-1990)
